Meet our District Leaders

Ed Thelen, DTM

District Director
I joined Toastmasters in January 1999 at the urging of my first supervisor. With encouragement, I served in most of the club officer roles and then was asked to serve as an Area Governor. Success in this role allowed me to also serve as District Treasurer, Division Governor, Administration Manager, Club Growth Director and now as the Program Quality Director.

I stay in Toastmasters because there is continuous learning and improvement of communication and leadership skills in giving speeches, receiving feedback from others and working with others in leadership roles. Toastmasters is the one thing I can say has truly changed my life!

Janci Rozaline, DTM

Program Quality Director
Rozaline has been a toastmaster since 2015 and is a member of 6 clubs. She is a member of a Corporate club at US Bank – Talkers and Shakers and 3 specialty clubs. She has served every officer position and was the distinguished Area Director for 2016-2017. She is addicted to toastmasters. She works in the field of technology and is the Asst. Vice President and QA Manager at US Bank. She loves to travel. Her favorite pastime is reading, cooking and spending time with the family. She also loves running and practices Yoga and meditation daily.

Kristine Pool, DTM

Club Growth Director
I have been a member since 2005 and have loved every minute of it! I enjoy the chance to meet new people and help them develop their communication and leadership skills; ultimately, it comes down to the enjoyment of mentoring others.

This year as Club Growth Director, it’s all about the HUGS! Helping Us Grow Stronger! Every goal we set, every new skill we learn, every member we mentor, we are growing stronger as individuals and as clubs. This ultimately leads to success within our Areas, Divisions, and District.

I look forward to serving the members of District 35 and helping us grow stronger with increased members, membership renewals, building new clubs, and assisting our struggling clubs to become distinguished.

I have been a Toastmaster since September of 2015. I am a lifelong learner, always looking for new ways to grow as an individual and a leader which is what brought me to Toastmasters. I am a charter member of NM Speaks!, the corporate club at the Milwaukee campus of Northwestern Mutual. I am currently serving in my second term as the District 35 Finance Manager and am currently the Immediate Past President of NM Speaks!

Angela Graham ACB ALB

Division Director
I joined Toastmasters in 2009 as a member of the Reedsburg Area Toastmasters Club. I joined Toastmasters as a way to get involved in a new community and learn how to be a better presenter, and leader. I have won several speech contests at the club level and placed at the Area level. I am serving my second time as a club president, I have also held office of VP of Education and VP Public Relations. I am now Area Director for W1. I am looking forward to serving the District in the upcoming year.

Carl Ervin, ACB ALB

Division Director
I joined Toastmasters in July 2015 to improve my ability and comfort level in speaking before an audience. It has been and continues to be a very exciting and beneficial experience. The Toastmaster family is incredibly supportive and helpful. I am thrilled about this new opportunity for learning, serving and growing as a Toastmaster.

Ronda Borowski, DTM

Division Director
I have been a Toastmaster for 13 years. My father was a Toastmaster, leading to my interest. I have held all 7 club officer positions, area governor, division governor, district treasurer (twice), and am a 2 time DTM. My goal was to become better at public speaking and Toastmasters did a great job! It also improved my leadership skills in ways I have never imagined.

I am looking forward to serving as your Division B Director for the 2018 -2019 Toastmasters Year. Reach for the Stars!

Shamaine Schoenherr

Division Director
I’m a charter member of Rumble Don’t Mumble; one of the corporate clubs at Harley-Davidson. I’ve had the privilege to serve as VP of Membership and President for Rumble Don’t Mumble and I’m now looking forward to serving as the Area D2 Director for the 17/18 year. Toastmasters continues to be a great development opportunity for me to improve my speaking and leadership skills.

Rick Griggs, CC ALB

Division Director
I am both proud and humbled to have been chosen as Central Division Director for 2018-19. Central Division has had a significant increase in the number of clubs (and geographic area) for 2018-19 due to the reorganization of two other divisions, along with the addition of two new clubs. I relish the leadership challenges and rewards that this opportunity offers because I’ve been blessed with the gift of having a fantastic team of Area Directors to lead!

I joined Toastmasters in 2013, starting with the Janesville Toastmasters Club. I am now a member of the Eastside Madison Toastmasters Club. I have held various Club officer roles in the past, and I served as the Area Director for area C2 in 2017-18. I currently run my own freelance business and, in all honesty, I credit all of my success in my business to Toastmasters. Every client I have has come through one of my Toastmasters network connections, and the confidence I’ve built through Toastmasters shines through in everything I’m doing. My personal goal is to achieve DTM by June 2020.

Marilyn Noble, CC CL

Area Director
I joined Toastmasters in 2010 after a Speechcraft class and three months later became VP Education. Toastmasters has given me the confidence to overcome the obstacles in my path – it was hard but wonderfully gratifying. I am becoming the person I was meant to be.

Amy Bowers

Area D3 Director
After returning to the Milwaukee area after studying in Madison and living in Laos, I was happy to join Toastmasters in 2015 as a way for me to re-root myself locally. I have always been excited by public speaking, but through Toastmasters I have become much more comfortable and confident to take on speaking and leadership opportunities beyond the club. With an anthropology degree, it’s no wonder my absolute favorite thing about Toastmasters is getting to know and learning from all the great people I meet along the way!

Dmitry Lapan, ACB, ALB

Area A1 Director
I joined Toastmasters in June of 2016 after visiting the club as a guest at least 8 times.  Since then I served as a VP of Membership and competed a few times in the International Speech Contest.  My most recent ISC competition was in April of 2018 at the Division level where I placed third.  In my spare time, I enjoy movies, chess, video games, downhill skiing, Tae Kwon Do, playing guitar, and riding my Honda Shadow CR2.  I enjoy telling people about Toastmasters and inviting them to club meetings.
