Welcome to the Club Coaching Forum

This forum is for our club coaches.  They can discuss techniques and ideas on how to help out clubs that need coaches.  Perhaps you are thinking about being a coach, but have a few questions first?  Start a topic here, and your questions will soon be answers.

Forum is a great idea for both Coaches and pathways.  Thanks for creating this Matt.

Does anyone know if club coach is still an activity to be completed for any of the new paths? And will a six-month commitment AND the club reaching distinguished still be criteria for completion of the coaching assignment?

From the faq:

The new requirements for the DTM award will be:

  1. Complete two unique learning paths.
  2. Serve as a club officer for 12 months. (If your club has six-month terms for officers, you can fulfill this requirement by serving as a club officer twice, but you don’t have to do it in consecutive terms.)
  3. Serve as a club mentor or coach.
  4. Serve as a club sponsor or conduct a Speechcraft or Youth Leadership program.
  5. Serve as a district officer for one year.
  6. Complete the DTM project. (Members are required to create and implement a project of their own design, in which they demonstrate the skills and expertise they have gained.)

They don't indicate a change of criteria, so it's probable the coach success will be the same. What's interesting is how they switched around a couple things -- mentor and coach both take at least six months and one of those two is required.  On the other hand, the club sponsor option is interchanged with speechcraft and YLP.
